The Singapore Association of Social Workers is the professional representative body of Social Workers in Singapore.
Established in 1971, SASW as the national professional association serves the following objectives:
- Advance Social Work as a profession and foster a high standard of Social Work in the country
- Participate in activities which promote Social Work and social welfare on the national and international level
- Participate in and provide community and social services to the public
- Promote the well-being of Social Workers
The work of SASW Executive Committee is supported by the various Standing Committees, Chapters, Special Interest Groups and the management and staff team.
The Association serves key functions in the following areas:
Maintain the Register of Accredited Social Workers. The accreditation system was put in place to ensure professional standards of Social Work practice. This ensures that qualified practitioners keep their skills and knowledge current through Continuing Professional Education.
Promote and provide continuing professional education and training to support social workers through its training academy, the Family Resource & Training Centre ( FRTC).
Promote the standards and public recognition of social work as a profession.
Promote the profession of Social Work and facilitate information sharing and networking among social workers through educational events and publications.
Engage in national dialogues for the development and recognition of the Social Work profession.
