Volunteers can be a powerful force for good—but meaningful impact rarely happens by simply putting out a recruitment call and hoping for the best. This hands-on course equips social service practitioners with practical tools and strategies to build effective volunteer partnerships, from planning volunteer roles and resources, to attracting and recruiting the right people, onboarding and training them well, and keeping them engaged over time. Participants will also explore practical approaches to managing volunteer performance, expectations and relationships, while navigating common ethical and operational challenges. Through realistic scenarios, group discussions and individual assessment, the course helps practitioners turn good intentions into well-designed volunteer programmes that work for volunteers, organisations and the communities they serve.
The course presents practitioners the opportunity to explore the ways volunteers can be partnered for maximum impact, while also providing the framework, principles, perspectives and skills to effectively plan, attract, recruit, onboard, engage and retain volunteers. Curated specifically to provide practical strategies for practitioners, it covers fundamental topics in the following elements of effective volunteer partnerships: · Planning & Resourcing · Marketing & Recruitment · Onboarding & Training · Partnership Management · Programme Management |
