Effective fieldwork education supervision requires one to have knowledge of learning theories, fieldwork education values and ethics, supervisory skills and facilitation skills. This requires the supervisor to tap into his/her individual training and experience.

This training  is designed to equip individuals required to take on the role of a fieldwork education supervisor with practical supervisory skills to address the different phases of supervision as the challenges that may arise. Participants will be introduced to systems tools applicable to the phases of supervision, guiding checklist on functions of supervision, and questionnaire for matching of supervisor-supervisee etc.

Upon completion of the course, participants will:

    • Use fieldwork education values and ethics to supervise students
    • Apply supervision theories to facilitate learning of the students
    • Implement system tools that are suitable for different phases of fieldwork education
    • Apply supervisory skills to overcome challenges in fieldwork supervision

Social Workers and related professionals who;

  • Attained Bachelor or Grad Dip (SW) and / or Master in Social Work with minimum 3.5 years of working experience in a social work setting and
  • Are supervisors or fieldwork educators who are already taking or going to take students who are doing Bachelor or Grad Dip (SW) degree from a recognised university

Ms Wong Liling has a Master of Social Work from the Washington University in St. Louis. Her interests and experiences include working with young persons involved in the justice system, capability building of the social service sector, and more recently in supporting families who are impacted by divorce.

Ms Yum Sin Ting is a registered social worker with over 20 years of practice experience. She has a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St Louis. Currently, Sin Ting oversees Learning and Development and social work placements in Allkin Singapore. In her last appointment, she managed a cluster of family service centres and youth service. She is also an Associate Faculty with Singapore University of Social Sciences teaching group work to social work students.

Ms Diana Wee is a social work practitioner with 17 years of experience in direct practice, social work education, fieldwork coordination, and student supervision. She has worked closely with field educators and students to create meaningful learning experiences and has a strong interest in youth development. Currently working with young persons experiencing early psychosis, she brings together her practice and educational experience to support reflective and effective fieldwork supervision.

PCG Local Training

The PCG Local Training is open to participants who meet the following criteria and conditions:

1. Must be employed and sponsored for the course by a Social Service Agency (SSA) affiliated to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS); and

2. Must attain at least 75% attendance failing which he/she or his/her employer will have to pay the FULL course fee.

Payment Method

If you are sponsored by your employer, please seek approval from your Supervisor to attend the course before you register. In the event of any discrepancies, you will be liable for the course fee.

For E-payments, please email to training@sasw.org.sg your payment voucher quoting invoice number, course title, course run date and date of payment.

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fees.

  • Self-sponsored participants can apply their credits to offset the nett course fee.
  • Organisation-sponsored participants are not eligible to use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the nett course fee.

Only the following type of SkillsFuture Credit may be used to offset the course fee:

Registration

The registrant will receive an acknowledgement receipt via email. Please allow up to 5 working days for processing of registration. Upon confirmation of participation, the HR/department administrator (i.e. contact person)/registrant will receive a course confirmation notice and invoice from SASW-FRTC via email.
