Divorce is a stressful event that affects the couple and the children. Divorce is not a self- contained event as it gives rise to many changes which requires necessary adjustment for the well-being of the family members. Each family experience divorce in a unique way and hence their needs and adjustments are unique. As a professional, it is important to have a slew of skills to understand the needs of the divorcing/divorced families to develop an effective intervention plan to support their adjustment to the divorce.
Course Objectives:
- Enhance participants’ understanding of the of the multidimensional aspects of the divorce experience encompassing systemic effects, emotional, psychological, and legal considerations.
- Expand participants’ knowledge of various intervention models designed to support divorcing and divorced families effectively.
- Develop participants’ skills to assess the needs of divorcing/divorced families and formulate comprehensive intervention strategies that facilitate their adjustment.
- Identify and integrate the available resources to promote the self-care and well-being of professionals providing divorce-related interventions.
The training is designed for social workers, counsellors, caseworkers interested in working/are working with divorcing/divorced families.
The training is mapped to skill HCE-PTC-1018-1.1 Intervention Implementation in Therapy Support-1.
Ms Saradha Ramachandran is the Principal Counsellor of RE~Counselling. She has a Masters in Applied Psychology and Psychological Services. She is trained in Satir’s Transformational Systemic Therapy, Neuroscience and Satir in Sand Tray, Grief and Loss, Divorce Interventions, Working with Individuals, Parents and Children etc. She was in the Social Service Sector for more than 25 years as a Counsellor, Supervisor, Trainer, Tutor and a Resource Person.
Saradha has the experience of supporting individuals, parents and children manage their challenges due to loss, bereavement, divorce, intrapersonal and interpersonal issues. She has been involved in Case Work & Counselling, Supervision, Research, Development and Implementation of programmes, Training & Consultancy, Development of Standards and Programme Evaluation.
Saradha has collaborated with Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore University of Social Sciences, Social Service Training Institute, Executive Counselling & Training Academy, Singapore Community Bereavement Project – Project Rebuild, Singapore Management University in enhancing the skills of the Students, Professionals and Volunteers.
She was a member of the Sub-Team on Counselling of the Social Service Skills Future Tripartite Taskforce (STT) and Alliance for Action (AfA): Strengthen Marriages and Family Relationships, focusing on Single-Parent Families.
She is a Master Clinical Member, Registered Counsellor, Registered Clinical Supervisor of Singapore Association for Counselling. She is Registered Social Service Practitioner by Social Work Accreditation Board and an Associate Member of the Singapore Association of Social Workers.

The PCG Claim is open to participants who meet the following criteria and conditions:
1. Must be employed and sponsored for the course by a Social Service Agency (SSA) affiliated to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS); and
2. Must attain at least 75% attendance failing which he/she or his/her employer will have to pay the FULL course fee.
Payment Method
If you are sponsored by your employer, please seek approval from your Supervisor to attend the course before you register. In the event of any discrepancies, you will be liable for the course fee.
All fees must be paid after course confirmation and before commencement. Payments may be made by Paynow or bank transfer.

registration. Upon confirmation of participation, the HR/department administrator (i.e. contact person)/registrant will receive a course confirmation notice and invoice from SASW-FRTC via email.
