Programme Details

The introductory workshop of SOSp (Supervision in the SOSp) aims to equip supervisors who are supervising supervisors with foundational skills across three key domains: clinical, education, and management. Participants will gain insights into the core principles, techniques, and best practices essential for effective supervision within these domains.

From these 5 days workshop, participants will learn:

    1. Defining clinical supervision and its importance in professional development.
    2. Understanding the role of the supervisor in clinical settings.
    3. Techniques for providing constructive feedback and fostering reflective practice among supervisees.
    4. Exploring the role of educational supervision in enhancing teaching and learning outcomes in supervision
    5. Strategies for assessing and addressing the educational needs of supervisees.
    6. Promoting effective communication and collaboration in educational settings.
    7. Identifying the key components of effective management in supervisory roles.
    8. Developing skills in goal setting, performance evaluation, and team leadership.
    9. Conflict resolution techniques and strategies for managing challenging situations.
    10. Understanding the interconnectedness of clinical, educational, and management aspects in supervision of supervisory practice.

This workshop is designed for Heads of Agencies and Experienced Social workers from social work sectors. Participants should have at least 10 years of supervisory experience and are currently doing some form of supervision of supervision practice. Participants should have prior supervision training or certification in order to qualify for this training. 

Ms Yoges Munisamy is an experienced clinician, supervisor and trainer in the areas of supervision, trauma, care and resilience of the professional and in working with vulnerable children, youth and families. She is a PHD candidate at NUS and is studying trauma-informed supervision and its impact on secondary traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth. Yoges’s work experience involves being a SPSW in MSF, PSW in an FSC and Australian child protection. She lectures part-time in NUS SW department. Yoges has provided individual, group and SOSp groups for practitioners in Singapore and overseas in the statutory, community and hospital settings. Yoges received OSWA in 2013.

Ms Katherine Baptist has a Masters in Social Sciences (Social Work) from the National University of Singapore.  She has 30 years of social work practice in casework, clinical supervision and management spanning across community, health and government settings.

Ms Han Yah Yee has a Bachelor in Arts and Social Sciences (Major in Social Work). She has more than 30 years of social work experience. Started off as a social worker, she is now the chief purpose Officer of Montfort Care, overseeing a network of social work programs in serving the community. In year 2010, she is awarded with the outstanding social worker award.

Ms Joanne Goh is a Principal Therapist, Master Social Worker, and award-winning educator with 23 years at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She has counseled diverse groups, including single mothers, youth-at-risk, and survivors of abuse. Awarded scholarships for advanced training in the U.S., she established Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) at KKH and is one of three certified PCIT therapists in Singapore. Joanne also specializes in Couples Therapy, Adolescent-based Family Therapy, and trauma management. She contributed to the social work community by serving on the Singapore Association of Social Workers’ committee and received the Skills future Fellowship Award in 2019.

PCG Local Training

The PCG Claim is open to participants who meet the following criteria and conditions:

1. Must be employed and sponsored for the course by a Social Service Agency (SSA) affiliated to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS); and

2. Must attain at least 75% attendance failing which he/she or his/her employer will have to pay the FULL course fee.

Payment Method

If you are sponsored by your employer, please seek approval from your Supervisor to attend the course before you register. In the event of any discrepancies, you will be liable for the course fee.

All fees must be paid after course confirmation and before commencement. Payments may be made by Paynow or bank transfer. 

For E-payments, please email to training@sasw.org.sg your payment voucher quoting invoice no., course title, course run date and date of payment.

Registration

The registrant will receive an acknowledgement receipt via email. Please allow up to 5 working days for processing of
registration. Upon confirmation of participation, the HR/department administrator (i.e. contact person)/registrant will receive a course confirmation notice and invoice from SASW-FRTC via email.
